Why come to the Rache?
Because it is a house unlike any you will ever stay in. The Rache is a bright, airy house, full of interest and a wonderfully comfortable base from which to explore the stunning Galloway countryside. It is a perfect venue for a gathering of family or friends to make a special and memorable holiday or short break. You can be totally private, yet you are a short walk from the village and only three miles from the ‘Food Town’ of Castle Douglas.
Developed in the late 1990’s from old stable and farm buildings (see accommodation page) it is now available for self-catering parties of up to 8 or up to 12 people (2 extra beds can be available).
A huge comfortable sitting room with a log fire offers plenty of space to relax, and a similar size kitchen/dining area with lovely warm Aga has seen plenty of happy holiday meals. Four bedrooms, décor ranging from toile-de-jouy to tartan are upstairs for a party of up to eight, with a further two bedrooms and a second large sitting-room downstairs for a group of twelve. A step outside the kitchen and dining area, meals from breakfast to supper can be had on the large terrace equipped with wooden furniture and a barbecue.
You can stroll down the drive, across the road and follow the little burn to a picturesque waterfall, or take a trip a little further afield to one of the many wonderful local beaches. For the more energetic, follow world-class biking trails at 7stanes, go for a day’s hike in magnificent scenery, or book anything from sailing to fishing, golf to riding.
There is nowhere better than Galloway when the sun is shining, but even if it is not you can curl up in the Rache and just enjoy the peace.
